The Middle East is a region where automobile is king and fuel is inexpensive, frequently leaving little incentive to discover more environmentally-friendly methods of moving.

But this year, as protests across the Middle East have risen the price of oil, the problem of discovering alternative sources of fuel has actually entered into sharp focus.

In a region that has among the greatest carbon footprints in the world, one is making the most of the growing pressure to discover options to oil. It's set up the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing rewarding too, currently their client-list consists of McDonald's.
